Having secured a grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Heritage & Culture Warwickshire are looking to appoint an enthusiastic archivist to lead an exciting and innovative project working with communities across Warwickshire. It is a great opportunity to gain experience working with the important area to improve Diversity and Inclusion within archives. The successful candidate will be supported by other members of the archivist team, mainly the Engagement Archivist, recently the recipient of Warwickshire County Council’s Star Award for Diversity & Inclusion, and the Senior Archivist who will line manage the position.
They will identify and work with a wide variety of communities to support them in storing and caring for, understanding and recording their collections. The project will also begin work on compiling a directory of archives held within communities and promote their use to make more people across Warwickshire aware of these records and increase the number of people accessing the county’s diverse heritage.
This role will suit someone who has a sound understanding of cataloguing and promoting archival collections and a passion for engaging with communities to demonstrate the importance of heritage in community identity and the need to safeguard it for future generations. The successful candidate will develop and deliver a training programme to inspire and equip communities to look after and record their own collections. We are looking for someone with energy and imagination to make the most of a short-term contract that will benefit their continued professional development.
The post is fixed term (six months) full time (37 hours per week) and not suitable for home working.
