We are looking for individuals, experienced within the field of fire protection and/or building regulations who are enthusiastic, high performing, driven and self-motivated who like a challenging and rewarding role. For the right person, we will invest time & money to train you to the required standard.
You need to be flexible and agile, and able to respond to emerging opportunities in line with the plans of the department and organisation. Also, be able to motivate yourself and others to contribute to Service and Department’s goals.
It is expected that that you will be able to remain calm in high pressure situations, making sound decisions based on applicable guidance and legislation. You must have the ability to work flexibly, with minimum supervision to meet priorities and be an innovator in this field.
You will, (depending on the role);
· Advise and inform the public and others, on request, on all matters relating to fire protection and prevention within premises.
· Inspect and audit and review premises under the provisions of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (as amended), and to give advice and instruction on compliance.
· Enforce the provisions of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (as amended), through the serving of Formal Notifications as required.
· Respond to consultations from other authorities, eg; building regulations, licencing, civil ceremonies.
· Inspect premises under other fire related legislation and to report any findings to the relevant enforcing authority.
· Gather evidence and carry out prosecution procedures where required
· Contribute to policy and procedures for WFRS that relate to legislative guidance on matter concerning fire safety.
To apply for this role, you will be required to hold the necessary qualifications and experience, which includes;
Team Leader
· Level 5 Diploma in Fire Engineering Design or equivalent other Fire Safety qualification, or equivalent Building Regulations qualification (HNC/HND), or
· Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety (Auditors) or equivalent other Fire Safety qualification, or equivalent Building Regulations qualification (HNC/HND), and willing to work towards the L5 Diploma.
· A proven track record of managing & leading a team
· Training may be provided for suitable candidates who have required transferable skills or have previous experience working in another regulatory or enforcing role.For further information please see the Job Description and Person Specification.
Inspector
· Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety (Auditors) or equivalent other Fire Safety qualification, or equivalent Building Regulations qualification (HNC/HND), or
· Already working towards either of the above, or
Business Fire Safety Advisor
· Level 3 Certificate in Fire Safety (Auditors) or equivalent other Fire Safety qualification, or equivalent Building Regulations qualification (HNC/HND), or
· Training may be provided for suitable candidates who have required transferable skills or have previous experience working in another regulatory or enforcing role.
