The Role
Working closely within the Children and Families Business Unit, you'll strengthen our existing team of Independent Reviewing Officers by ensuring that care plans for children fully reflect each child's needs, that all planning processes meet regulatory requirements, reflect best practice and maintain a focus on achieving best outcomes for the child.
The principle responsibilities of the post will be to independently chair child protection conferences and the statutory reviews of looked after children ensuring that plans are in place that are robust,achievable and regularly reviewed. Where there are blocks to planning authoritative communication and escalation processes will be utilised to negotiate within the authority up to the highest level to seek resolution and outcomes required for the child.

Key Requirements
The successful applicant will need a clear understanding of the current responsibilities and challenges within the role of Independent Reviewing officer and be able to evidence their ability to carry out the requirements of the post. Experience of managing complex cases, effectively communicating with young people and their families and the confidence and ability to work constructively with senior managers offering a critical perspective and appropriate challenge will also be key requirements of the post.
