This is an exciting opportunity to join a brand-new team in the Warwickshire County Council Children and Families Service.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Missing Children’s Practitioner to join our brand-new team supporting children and families. You will join a dedicated and innovative team built on existing expertise and developing new ways of working that is co located with multi-agency partners, including Children’s Social Care, Warwickshire Police, Compass, and Barnardo’s.
The main purpose of the role is to work collaboratively with partners, statutory and voluntary agencies to reduce and manage risk, safeguard and protect children who go missing and identify opportunities to reduce and prevent further missing episodes by adopting a problem solving and joint working approach.
We are looking for a someone who will work creatively and collaboratively with young people and their families. You will be passionate, committed and solution-focused, evidencing restorative principles within your practice.
Experience of working with young people and an ability to form positive relationships is essential. You will have the opportunity to learn and develop your own practice and skills with training in Restorative Practice and Motivational Interviewing. You will work in a supportive environment and will have regular supervision and support and the opportunity to develop close working relationships with other teams within Children and Families and wider partner agencies. The Role
Key responsibilities will include:
Retain ownership of specific children (as allocated) and identify those who are going missing most and adopt a problem-solving approach to reduce this risk.
Retain ownership of specific locations, review all contacts made from these locations in relation to missing children and ensure appropriate follow up calls and visits are completed. Where necessary refer incidents to appropriate Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) or supervisors.
Retain ownership of allocated children’s profile documents/ trigger plans. Evaluate and assess the risk elements within the profile documents, ensure that the details provided are appropriate, relevant, accurate, and up to date and adhere to General Data Protection Regulations.
Ensure that the profile document is visible and accessible on relevant Force systems to officers and staff to assist with risk assessment and decision making.
The Fluency Duty is outlined in the Code of Practice on the English language requirements for public sector workers. The Fluency Duty for this role is Required. You must be able to speak and provide advice in accurate spoken English to the public.
