Assistant Ranger, Kingsbury Water Park
Hours: 37 hours per week
About Us
The Country Parks Service has a portfolio of 5 Country Parks and 3 Greenways across Warwickshire serving in excess of 900,000 visitors a year.
Kingsbury Water Park is a very busy 600 acre country park with a wide variety of informal recreation activities on offer. Engaging the visiting public and managing the park's ecological habitats are the focus of our work.
The Role
As our Assistant Ranger you'll be working in all weathers on a shift pattern which includes weekends and bank holidays (if on shift). Using the works vehicles you'll be travelling across the Park helping to promote and assist visitors' enjoyment of the countryside. Ensuring the Park and facilities are clean and tidy; assisting with parking and taking payments, you'll also contribute to public events and education; manage volunteers and provide information and advice. Working within a team and on your own initiative in all weathers you may be required to work at other sites and sometimes work additional hours as the need arises.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
To be successful in this role you'll need strong customer care and communication skills as you'll be managing a variety of relationships. It's essential that you want to work weekends and bank holidays and equally important you have the ability to work independently using your initiative as well as within a team and in all weathers. You'll need knowledge of conservation,recreation and countryside issues as well as previous experience of working or volunteering in a leisure or countryside environment where you will have developed practical countryside skills. An interest in wildlife and the outdoors is desirable.
