About Us
There’s more to law than corporates.
Join our award-winning legal service and grow through diverse clients, challenging projects and excellent training opportunities.
At Warwickshire Legal Services, we run a very different kind of in-house legal team.
We have the freedom to practise as our own firm within Warwickshire County Council, generating our own income from internal teams and a diverse pool of public sector clients.
Few councils operate this way, and our approach gives you a unique environment to grow your career. You’ll join an award-winning group of innovative legal professionals and take on a real variety of cases, from property and education to children’s safeguarding and adult social care.
On top of this, you can take advantage of the benefits that come with a non-corporate practice. You’ll see cases through to completion and get more hands-on experience while getting a better work-life balance and greater flexibility.
We’re also dedicated to supporting your development through a wide range of training opportunities, and you’ll be able to learn from a 120-strong team with a true breadth of legal experience.
In short, we are an ambitious, nationally recognised team that wants to deliver consistently outstanding legal work. If you feel the same, we welcome you to join us.
We’re looking for driven, ambitious solicitors to join our award-winning, nationally recognised legal service. At Warwickshire, your development comes first. With us, you’ll be trusted to lead even the most challenging legal projects for a wide variety of public-sector clients. Together with high quality training and unrivalled opportunities to grow, you’ll also be able to take advantage of greater flexibility and a work-life balance that’s hard to find at corporate firms. Because of our unique offering, we boast a diverse range of legal talent for you to learn from, and we’re proud to say that the solicitors who practise with us tend to stay with us. If you share our ambitions for growth and excellence, we welcome you to join.
About the Role
We are looking for ambitious lawyers with an interest in governance, local government and data. The team will provide advice on all aspects of information legislation (GDPR/FOI etc) and provide support to colleagues in Information Governance and Democratic Services and become the “go to” for advice on constitutional and procedural matters. As a traded service there is the opportunity to grow the team and its scope with the right approach and ambition.
You’ll deliver outstanding legal support for all of our public-sector clients across a wide range of work, including commercial work, major projects, information governance and corporate governance.
You’ll need sharp problem-solving skills and the ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure, collaborating with our friendly and supportive team of innovative legal professionals. You’ll also need to be willing to learn and adapt to the challenging, ever-changing public sector legal environment.
You should be a fully qualified practising solicitor or barrister with a background of advising in a local government environment. Prior experience of advising in committees or similar environments will be an advantage.
