Fire Control Operator (Trainee)
12 month fixed term contract (
minimum

An opportunity has arisen to join Warwickshire Fire Control Team on a minimum fixed term contract of 12 months. The successful candidate will join the established team, working on a shift basis. As a Trainee you will be given a training package to suit the needs of the role.
About Us:
When
someone dials 999 and asks for the Fire Service they will be put through to a member of the Fire Control Team. Fire Control operators are the first line of contact for members of the public needing Fire Service assistance.
Warwickshire Fire Control utilises advanced mobilising systems to ensure that firefighters are dispatched speedily to any incident they are required to attend.
About the Role:
Based at our Headquarters in Leamington Spa,your core activity will be receiving 999 Emergency calls. Gathering as much information from the caller as possible you will evaluate the situation; decide on the best course of action; act as the link between Fire Service and the caller as well as update databases accordingly. You will be supporting callers with a wide range of incidents, ie, fires, road traffic collisions, flooding, hazardous material spillages etc.
Key Requirements:
Being the first point of contact to callers dialling 999 for the Fire and Rescue Service it is important that you have strong communication, listening and customer care skills.
Experience of working within a team and on your own initiative is also important and you will need to be flexible in terms of the hours you are working and the nature of the activities you undertake.
Resilient, with strong planning and organising skills, along with the ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining professional composure are key attributes for the role.
You will need to possess good IT and keyboard skills for entering information promptly and accurately.
You will also need to be committed to personal development due to the training requirement for the role.
