About Us
Warwickshire County Council have three vacancies for a period of six months for Community Development Workers within the Communities and Partnerships Team.
The posts are as follows:
Rugby – working to support the Communities and Partnerships Team with community-based projects.
Atherstone – co-located and working with our key partners in North Warwickshire Borough Council Community Development Team.
Warwick – working with key partners in Warwick District Council Community Wellbeing Team on community development and outreach work across the areas of Warwick Gates, Heathcote and Whitnash.
These posts offer very exciting opportunities to gain valuable experience of working within a partnership setting of local authorities and the Voluntary and Community Sector, amongst professional community development workers – to support health and wellbeing, recovery of communities from Covid-19, as well as helping to tackle loneliness and social isolation. This is a golden opportunity to make a positive difference to people’s lives – working amongst colleagues who are passionate about their role.
The Communities and Partnerships Service supports residents and communities by building capacity and resilience, increasing volunteering and social action, facilitating effective partnerships and partnership working, promoting the principles of self-help, early intervention, prevention and strengths'-based working, and enabling effective community engagement. We work closely and in partnership with Borough, District, Town and Parish councils.
We are a countywide service with specific focuses on community development, investing in communities including our management of the Councillors’ Grants Scheme, commissioning of voluntary sector support, advice and equalities services, financial inclusion, voluntary and community sector relationships and coordination of community-led activity across Warwickshire.
About the Role
The purpose of the role is to develop the capacity of residents and resident-led groups, working with community and voluntary sector agencies and groups and statutory partners – through targeted, established community projects. The role may require some limited evening and weekend working to enable successful engagement with local community groups.
