School Governance Professional (formerly Clerk to Governing Board)
Warwickshire Governor Services runs a clerking service for schools in the county and surrounding area. We wish to recruit additional School Governance Professionals/clerks to deliver a high-quality service to more schools, contributing to the provision of excellent education to their pupils.
The main duties are:
You will need excellent administrative, IT, and communication skills, the ability to work to deadlines and flexibility to work at times convenient to the governing body, typically early evening.
School Governance Professionals will be employed by Warwickshire County Council but will usually be allocated to specific schools. Day to day accountability is to the governing body.
It is a part-time role and hours can be agreed with candidates on an individual basis. Schools usually subscribe to the clerking service for 6, 10, or 12 meetings per academic year. Pay (including holiday enhancement) is £12.85 per hour.
We are looking for someone who:
New School Governance Professionals will receive support in their first few weeks and will be expected to attend the first clerks’ induction course, held termly, after appointment. They are also expected to attend the follow-on Effective Clerking course within their first or second term. Continuing professional development is provided.
The LA also runs a half-day clerks’ conference annually.
