Community Development Worker
About Us
A vacancy exists for a Community Development Worker(CDW) based in Stratford upon Avon and covering priority neighbourhoods in Stratford-on-Avon District. You will join a network of community development workers across the county who deliver an 'Asset Based Community Development' approach when working in targeted local communities.
The Role
We believe in building on the strengths of a community, rather than focusing on the deficits. You will work in partnership with residents and agencies in specific villages or communities of interest to maximise and build on the wealth of assets we know that people and communities possess. Our aim is to facilitate the development of locally 'grown' sustainable solutions that meet people's needs.
In addition you may have to work evenings and weekends to suit the needs of our client groups.

Key Requirements
It is important you have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and can work effectively in a team as well as using your own initiative. In addition you'll need to work in a sympathetic and supportive way to gain the trust of a wide range of people to make the difference in a community setting.
To be successful in this role you'll need experience of community development work and an understanding of working for a local authority. You will be trained or have experience in key aspects of Community Development, as well as experience of working with a range of statutory organisations and voluntary and community groups.
This is a fixed term position until 7th July 2020.
