About us
Warwickshire County Council is seeking enthusiastic and ambitious individuals to join the Development Management Team at the start of their career. The team is engaged in supporting the future development of Warwickshire’s transport infrastructure which is vital to supporting sustainable economic growth and prosperity. The developments dealt with by the team vary in scale, location and complexity, and the team is responsible for providing statutory highway advice to the Local Planning Authorities, pre-application advice, carrying out technical approvals and inspections for new road adoptions associated with developments throughout the County.
About the role
Warwickshire County Council operates with a streamlined job description which encompasses both planning and technical approval/inspection work areas. As a trainee, the successful applicant will work across both areas to gain experience and develop their knowledge
Key skills and experience required
To be successful you will need to be motivated, creative, organised and willing to take responsibility for the success of your activities. You will need good analytical skills in order to develop an understanding of the impact of development on the highway network. You will be working with and alongside a wide range of internal and external colleagues, partners and clients, so will need to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
You should be educated to NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent). The role involves travel around Warwickshire and as such the ability to travel effectively is essential.
These posts are advertised on a full time basis, but applications from candidates seeking flexible or part-time working arrangements will be considered.
