Job description
Production and Communication Services - Network Engineer
This is a vacancy for a Network Engineer in Warwickshire County Council's Data Network Team, to help provide a resilient and stable network to approximately 90 council sites. The team consists of 9 people, with engineers provisioning and trouble shooting Alcatel and Cisco routers and switches, and
an Alcatel/ Aruba wireless solution. The Network Team deliver a service which is vital in underpinning the work of Warwickshire County Council: The responsibilities of the team will continue to evolve with the opportunities introduced by cloud-based services,the ongoing development of wireless connectivity across the council, and the need to deliver services flexibly to users while remaining compliant with Cyber Security regulations.
The network engineering role is varied and involves visits to sites around the county to conduct network surveys, replace equipment, or investigate and fix local issues, as well as remote support for both the wired and wireless networks. There is scope for you to develop your knowledge in many different areas once you have a good understanding of the team's core responsibilities. We work closely with other technical teams in the council to solve problems and improve service, so any related ICT knowledge that you have has the potential to be beneficial in this role.
Key Requirements
You will be able to demonstrate an interest in network technologies and experience in working in a technical role within an IT environment. The candidate will be willing to build on their existing knowledge to provide the right level of support within the team.
