Strategy & Commissioning Manager (Place & Infrastructure)
Make a difference working for Warwickshire County Council (WCC) and contribute to our aim of making Warwickshire the best it can be for everyone. In the role of Strategy & Commissioning Manager (Place & Infrastructure), you will shape and drive the future growth and development of the county and lead and develop WCC’s approach to place-shaping.
You will oversee and co-ordinate our new place programme, to help shape and drive the future growth and development of the county and create strong, vibrant, sustainable and inclusive places where people want to live, work and visit.
This work involves working closely with a wide range of partners, stakeholders, communities and businesses, and so the postholder will need exceptional partnership working skills to establish and maintain effective relationships. We are looking for someone with strong strategic and visionary skills, who can help to continually “raise the bar” in terms of our aspirations and objectives for our communities, towns and places across the county; and is skilled at bringing different partners and teams together to ensure a co-ordinated and joined up approach to places.
The postholder will be responsible for a range of services and initiatives, including strategic planning; infrastructure funding; work to support our town centres and rural economy; digital infrastructure and the role out of full fibre networks and 5G connectivity; and place-shaping and regeneration work, including our major Transforming Nuneaton Programme.
This is a new role, bringing together a new set of functions, and the postholder will have an ideal opportunity to shape and develop this area of work. It is an exciting time to join WCC, with the launch of our new Warwickshire Property Development Group, the Warwickshire Recovery & Investment Fund, our Community Powered Warwickshire initiative, and significant investment in our Transforming Nuneaton Programme. The role is a big responsibility that will be challenging at times, but you will be given the support and encouragement you need to succeed and shape your career at WCC.
Join us to help shape the future direction of Warwickshire – an internationally renowned county that is home to some of the UK’s most established businesses, as well as thousands of thriving small enterprises and is host to millions of tourists who come each year for its historic towns, rich heritage and hundreds of acres of rolling countryside. Warwickshire is also a hub for innovation and skills, with local firms investing up to twice as much as the national average on research and design.
If you’re someone who wants to do the best job possible, who approaches everything with passion and purpose, then this role could be for you.
